Missionaries Abroad

We are excited to announce our two newest missionaries, Pastors Christa von Zychlin and

Wayne Nieminen. We look forward to learning how Christ is blessing them as they work in Hong Kong and blessing us as we work to support them. Indeed, through their service we are reminded that God’s love is larger than any national border, or language, or set of human experiences. God's Word and Church are alive and well in Hong Kong!

 

Wayne is called by the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hong Kong (ELCHK) through the Global Mission of the ELCA to teach practical theology at the Lutheran Theological Seminary of Hong Kong. He teaches a variety of courses from marriage counseling to crisis, youth, pastoral, addiction, and domestic violence courses. His students are from Hong Kong, Mainland China, Cambodia, Vietnam, Indonesia, Laos, Myanmar and Malaysia.

Christa teaches part-time in the area of pastoral formation and evangelical witness at the Seminary. She also teaches English and Bible stories to 1st and 2nd graders in a Hong Kong primary school.
